Flair magazine was founded in 1950 and folded a year later. The founding editor was American writer and artist Fleur Fenton Cowles. At the time Flair magazine was first published, Time magazine described it as a "fancy bouillabaisse of Vogue, Town & Country, Holiday, etc.".
Flair was applauded for it's amazing design and lavish production by European Art Director Federico Pallavicini. Flair magazine folded because the production costs were too expensive to be supported in the long run. Contributors and writers include Saul Steinberg, Salvador Dalí, Auden, Cocteau, Lucian Freud, Tennessee Williams, Angus Wilson, and many others.
